Today, it is estimated there are between 670,000 – 700,000 family and friends caring for a person with dementia in the UK. Dementia Carers Count exists to help those family and friends feel confident, supported and heard and to inspire them to learn, connect and receive practical support to feel empowered in their caring role.
Dementia Carers Count (DCC) focuses on supporting family carers of people with dementia. At the centre of that mission, is the development of the UK’s first ever Dementia Carers Centre which will act as a home to services and advice for thousands of carers who urgently need support.
The charity is now looking for a Director of Fundraising that can lead this exciting £4 million capital appeal campaign and also create and implement a plan that will raise £750,000 a year from year three of the centre’s operations.
The successful candidate needs to be a creative and visionary leader who will be comfortable in a ‘start up’ type scenario. This role has the great opportunity of being able to shape and develop their own fundraising team, and build on much of the groundwork which has already been carried out.
DCC are looking for someone with a deep experience of philanthropy and high value partnerships and who has a track record of achieving multi-million pound fundraising programmes for capital and/or revenue programmes. They will also have exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams to reach their full potential.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of a ground-breaking charity and to work alongside a small but highly committed and focused leadership team.
