Director of Fundraising & Marketing
Location: Hammersmith, London
Starlight is a national children’s charity that is dedicated to preserving childhood through serious illness and to brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families. They enable families to escape from the reality and routine of illness by providing play and distraction services in hospitals and hospices; by giving families the opportunity to have fun days out and by granting wishes.
After the appointment of a new CEO and Director of Finance in 2017 and the start of a significant change programme to build capacity and capability, this is an exciting time to be joining Starlight as they begin to create a unique position and differentiation for the charity whilst continuing to deliver their vital services.
As part of this work in progress, Starlight is seeking a charismatic, visionary and motivational leader to be part of their Senior Leadership Team and who will enjoy rolling up their sleeves to develop and support the fundraising team in a way that maximises opportunities for income generation across the organisation.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of building and retaining relationships with high net worth individuals and corporate partners, as well as a strong track record of leading fundraising teams across all income streams, with an emphasis on high value fundraising. They must also have powerful, persuasive and inspirational influencing and communication skills, as well as high levels of emotional intelligence; as a newly forming team Starlight’s Directors need to be self-aware, able to read and manage their emotions and to realistically evaluate their strengths and how best to adapt them as Starlight develops and grows.
